P.J. Fleck was hired at Western Michigan University as the youngest head coach in the FBS. P.J. led the Broncos to the first 10-0 season in Western Michigan University history. In 2017 P.J. because the head coach of the Minnesota Gophers, and in 2019 lead them to their best season in over 50 years winning the Outback Bowl against Auburn. P.J. was a finalist for the Eddie Robinson Coach of the Year award and winner the Big 10 Coach Of The Year award.
P.J. Fleck developed the “Row The Boat” mantra as part of the grieving processes after the loss of his son Colt, and extended it to his coaching style. Row the Boat is about life, adversity, and never giving up.
P.J. and Heather Fleck founded RowTheBoat.org and the Row The Boat Fleck Family Fund to benefit the University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital and the Ronald McDonald House – Oak Street.
